Things have changed a lot in the small business world especially in the last five years. Many of those changes are due to the influx of social media and the way that the search engines view your use of social media as a business owner.
This brings to mind whether or not social media is right for your small business. Let’s look at some facts.
Everyone knows how difficult marketing your business can be. Due to rising costs of traditional print media, TV and cable, or radio, a lot of businesses are turning to social media because it is relatively free. I say relatively due to the fact that many businesses choose to have a professional help them with their social media postings so it can actually be a paid method of marketing, if you so choose.
However, there may be some businesses that are not really the best fit for for social media. I would think maybe the manufacturing business may not really find the need for social media. Or if you’re in a supply business producing products for other people, etc.
However for most businesses, especially in the local arena, we can look at a few ideas about whether social media marketing is right for your business.
Is Social Media Marketing Right for Your Small Business
* Social media is great for generating leads reaching out to your consumers, initiating contact to your community, and getting to know your followers. If you have a product to sell or a service to provide, social media might be a right fit for you.
* It’s also a great tool to use to send people to your website. Your website is a great support for your social media strategy and by combining the two you can share things like your blogging, growing your email marketing list for supplemental items like e-books and free downloads, sales, new product releases, etc., depending on your business.
* We also have to look at your team support and the time it takes to do the proper social media marketing. For some small businesses that may be a one person show that’s where paid assistance may come in handy or you can try to do your own marketing in your down time or spare time, which may or may not be as effective. It is definitely something that will need to be scheduled to be effective for you.
* Also realize that social media is something that you need to be engaging upon and engaging with your followers. Many companies use social media as a customer service point as a consumer can get quicker responses through a social media portal, such as Facebook and Twitter. Make the time to respond quickly for the best service to your followers.
