Let’s face it, there are so many aspects of marketing today, it can be kind of overwhelming. Sometimes you don’t know what’s going to work and what’s not going to work, but you don’t want to waste time and throw dollars down the drain.

So let’s talk about five things that you can do today that will improve your marketing strategy.

These five are something you can plan out and implement ASAP. Let’s get to it.

5 Things to Improve Your Marketing for a small biz owner

5 Things to Improve Your Marketing

1. Optimize your website and social media platforms.

This means that you are including your keywords in every area of your website. Each page has a keyword that you’re specifically focusing on. Each post has a keyword that you’re specifically focusing on.

That means you don’t want to have more than two or three per page or post, and they should be rather similar so that you stay on topic.

On your social media, you can also include keywords in your posts, alt text, and also in your bio.

Optimizing these pieces helps the search engines know who you are and who you’re serving, so they can deliver the correct search request

2. Institute an email strategy

An email strategy is a massive tool that any person can use. It doesn’t matter if you are a direct seller or if you own a corporation; email is a direct line to people who want to follow you for information that you have to offer.

Content can include educational pieces, general information about the industry, new products, sales tips and tricks, how to use the product, user-generated content, and more

3. Develop a content strategy.

This is important because it keeps your website and your social media fresh. You can develop content for updating pages, publishing, new blog posts, and creating social media content in different formats.

This also includes planning out how and when you’re going to post so that you are planning ahead and already know what you’re going to create. This also can include batch creation, maybe once a week, or having a team do it regularly so that you’re ready to post anytime.

4. Create collaborations and networks.

If you have not been working your local market, that can be a missed opportunity for you to collaborate with like-minded businesses. Building community partners can be an excellent strategy, especially when working on social media posts, because using those collaboration buttons will put you into both field streams.

It’s also great in the community for planning events or something similar.  For example, if you’re like a photographer and a children’s shop, you can refer each other

Building a network means that you have developed multiple partners in the community, you know their work, you trust them with your customers, and you have no issue referring them out because you know they’ll be taken care of. Hopefully, they feel the same of you and your business.

5. Develop a referral strategy

This is also really important because not only is the strategy between other business owners, but definitely between your clientele. Figure out how to reward people for referrals and make sure that they continue to want to refer you.

I know many people in my local community who only work by referral; that’s how busy they are.

Using these five tips, sit down this week and start to lay out how you can make changes immediately to improve your marketing strategy.

Reality is:

It doesn’t have to be difficult. It just needs to be consistent.
