As a new blogger, it can feel like a chore to be coming up with content and posting often. Some people struggle with topics and may only get a post published once every week, if they are lucky. I have often been to business site that have a blog attached and see that while they have written some posts, most of them have given up posting with any regularity. I was on a site just today that had not posted anything fresh in a year and a half.To me that says that nothing new is happening in their business or industry that is inspiring enough to cause them to want to share with you.
That brings me to the point of the post. I am often asked about “how often should I post for the best traffic”? This is a large topic of discussion across the web from the blogging “experts” and many of them say that a minimum of 2 posts of week is optimum. Many experts even say that reading blog posts is at the height on Mondays and Thursdays and that is when they recommend that posts be published. I personally have not seen an increase on readership on particular days – except on the day I publish – whatever day that happens to be. That is because I take the time to make sure it is shared through my social media outlets and I promote it too!
Posting two times a week is doable for a business and scheduling out your posts will really help. Get a blogging calendar – there is a great plugin called Editorial Calendar if you use WordPress. It will help you line out your posts for the week and months in advance so you can publish when you want to and then come back and promote it properly. Initially, any traffic is going to be because of your involvement in the promotion of your posts. So schedule your work and promote it through social media, newsletters and feeds so you get the most traffic out of each one of your posts.
